Parent Presentations

Greetings,
1F students have really enjoyed our parent presentations thus far. A special thanks to our parents that have generously given of their time to share their professions with us. We have been treated to a visit from a hairdresser and were given some hair products to try at home. We enjoyed some tasty treats as we learned about owning your own landscaping and trucking business. Lastly students were given some recycled cell phones to add to their dramatic play collections at home as we learned about the cell phone business and how important cell phones have become in our community.
We are looking forward to our future visits. If you should have an opportunity to visit please let us know.

A Visit from our Community Police Officer

Greetings,
During one of our student presentations last week we were treated to a visit from Officer Bertoni, who has been assigned to GNPS as our community liason officer this year. Officer Bertoni spoke to the grade one students about his job and the role of a police officer in the community. Students had an opportunity to ask questions and view his uniform and equipment. As can be seen in the pic below, Officer Bertoni's visit coincided perfectly with our student presentation that day.

What Will I Do for my Community Part 1

Greetings,
We have had a great deal of fun listening to our presentations on our future community contributions. Students are doing a fantastic job sharing their ideas, speaking clearly and answering questions from their audience. Keep tuned for some pics from this week's presentations.

Happy Thanksgiving

Greetings,

I have had some minor technical difficulties but am happy to say we are back to blogging. I am hopeful that everyone enjoyed our beautiful turkey artwork and was treated to our animated Turkey song. An extra day to a weekend is always a nice treat!

Thanks for your continued support.

Greetings,

1F was a very busy classroom last week as we worked on getting to know each other and reviewing some basic concepts. Hopefully the adjustment of coming to school every day was not too overwhelming. I certainly was impressed by the eager smiles greeting me each morning.

The first week was filled with many new adventures for 1F students like getting a table spot, using our pencil cases, getting to go to music class with Mrs. Dalley for the first time and finding our new bus locations at the end of the day. I am looking forward to continued new adventures in week two.

I have attached some fun websites for students to try at home below.

Welcome to 1F!

Dear Grade One Families,
Welcome to our Grade One Classroom Blog! My name is Lise Fellbaum and I will be your child's teacher this year. I am very excited to begin our grade one journey together and look forward to our many adventures ahead. Grade One can be a big change as students move from a play based learning environment into a more structured learning environment. But don't worry, we stil have a great deal of fun in Grade one!
I have left last years' classroom blog posts on our blog to give parents an opportunity to look around and see what kind of information we posted last year. I will be sending home a form to be signed that gives me permission to post your child's photo, audio files and/or videos we make in class. Names can never be posted with photos. Students love to see their pictures and share our activities with parents and other family members. Please call me at school if you have any concerns or questions with the blog.
I look forward to working with you throughout the year ahead.
