Greetings,

Miga continues on his adventures with my dad in Vancouver enjoying a Ladies Hockey Game, trying out the luge and pretending to glide along with the figure skaters. What fun! Check out his adventures in the slide show below.

Today we learned about the history of the Inukshuk and why it was chosen to be a part of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics symbol. This is turning out to be a really fun unit of study.

Greetings,

February is such a busy month filled with so many holidays. In between checking out the highlights from the Opening Ceremonies and learning how to add three digits, we found some time to investigate the traditions of the Chinese New Year. We watched a few You Tube videos from parades held on February 14th, celebrating the "Year of the Tiger" and enjoyed the lion dancers performing.

P.S. Here is a fun website I got from a friend to practice some addition facts.

Olympics via Web 2.0

Greetings,

I have been following the olympics all weekend, not from my television, but from my computer. I have found some incredible footage of the opening ceremonies, and other olympic highlights that I cannot wait to share with my class. I have been kept up to date by following the numerous olympic blogs and various tweets from my Twitter account. Technology has made it possible for us to hear and possibly view these events quickly and easily. In class we will be tracking Canada's progress easily via the web. By the end of this study 2F students will indeed be very media literate.

My parents are currently visiting my brother in Vancouver and are having great fun taking in all of the olympic festivities. They have sent some photos for us to enjoy from their walk today along the paths of English Bay.

If you come across any great websites for us to use during our olympic study please forward them to us. My favourite site to get up to date information is definitely CTV Olympics. There are some great videos as well.

2010 Vancouver Olympics

Greetings,

2F is getting very excited about the upcoming Vancouver Olympics. We will be very busy over the next couple of weeks following the progress of the Canadian Olympic Team and learning all we can about the games. The internet will be a valuable source of information for us on this journey and will allow us to stay informed as events are taking place.

Go Canada!

This is a fun link to learn more about the Olympic Mascots.
