A Respiratory Therapist

Greetings,

1F students were treated to another special visitor, Anya's mom. She is a respiratory therapist and told us all about her job helping people who have trouble breathing. We saw the stethoscope that she uses and talked about using puffers too. Students each got to take home a book called "Call Me Brave Boy" that talks about having asthma and an activity book too.

Thanks again to another wonderful parent volunteer.

A Paramedic

Greetings,

The grade one students were treated to a special visit from a friend of mine, Shanon, who is a paramedic in Essex. Shanon spent an hour with us discussing the role of a paramedic in the community and answering questions from a very curious bunch of students. Students shared lots of personal stories and especially enjoyed the video presentation. We are hopeful that when the spring weather returns Shanon can come back and give us a tour of her ambulance.

A Speech Therapist

Greetings,

Thanks so much to Clairissa's mom for coming in and talking to us about her job as a Speech Therapist. We learned many new things and enjoyed viewing the model of our throat and vocal chords. The yummy chocolate treat was delicious!

Thanks again to our wonderful parent volunteer.

Community Presentations

Greetings,

This month 1F students have an opportunity to share with us what they think they may be interested in doing when they are finished going to school. This topic corresponds perfectly with our Social Studies unit on The Local Community where we will learn how people in a community with different occupations interact with each other.

Here's a peek at our presentations so far....

A Professional Hockey Player/Trainer

A Grade Three Teacher

A Hairdresser

A Professional Hockey Player

A Police Officer

A Hairdresser/Stylist

Stay tuned for more exciting presentation photos....

Thanks again for your continued support of our oral communication projects each month. 1F students love being in the spotlight.

Our Pottery Lesson

Greetings,

Happy New Year to everyone and welcome 2012! I am so excited to continue on our learning journey together and am anxious to get back to our classroom routines.
Now that we have passed out our pottery presents I can share the slideshow that details how hard students worked. A special thanks to all of the parents that were able to join us.
