Greetings,
Our final show-n-share topic was great fun. We shared many giggles looking at pics of when we were little. I have put the pics together in a slide show so we could see if we could figure out who each picture belongs to.
As we wrap up our last month of show-n-share I wanted to take this opportunity to once again thank you for assisting your child each month in preparing for their special day. It is very important that students get many opportunities to develop their oral language skills. Speaking in front of others is not a skill that comes easily for everyone and for some requires great courage so meaningful opportunities for students to develop this skill are of great value.
Enjoy!

Glogging with Glogster
Greetings,
1F friends have been working really hard on a new Web 2.0 tool that was introduced to us by our friend, Mrs. Lachine. This program allows students to make online, interactive posters. 1F students worked with a partner to create a poster entitled "How To Be A Good Friend!" Students are welcome to use Glogster at home and require a password to get into their accounts. They have written their password in their agendas.

Dance, Dance, Dance!!
Greetings,
During the past couple of weeks we have been busy working on a fun and energetic dance unit. After practicing many different steps and techniques students then had to put together a routine with several different techniques. We started out as a stable structure that had a high, medium and low position. Students had to add mirroring and shadowing to their routine and one freestyle move. The finish was a moving structure. We had many talented teachers assisting us along the way. Everyone was so impressed with what the grade one students were able to come up with independently. A special thanks to Olivia, Mrs. Woodruff and Mrs. Robinet for their help.
Enjoy!

Chatham Cultural Centre Field Trip
Greetings, Last week we went on our field trip to the Chatham Cultural Centre to participate in a morning of art centres followed by an afternoon of black light drama. It was a fantastic day and we all had a great trip, as can be seen in the photos below. A special thanks to the GNPS Parent Council who provided $10.00/student to offset the cost of our trip. We also really appreciated all of our parent chaperones that took time out of their busy schedules to join us. Enjoy the show! Lise Fellbaum Chatham Cultural Centre Field Trip on PhotoPeach

Procedures and Plants
Greetings,
We have been working really hard in our literacy block writing simple procedures using key words, such as first, then, next and finally. Visitors to our classroom cannot believe the writing that 1F students are doing. Wait until you see the food chains that we painted and wrote about. They are sensational!! and will come home after we finish showing them off in the hallway.
While we were studying plants in our Characteristics of Living Things Science Unit we decided to make some procedure videos to teach others how to conduct an experiment, "Can a bean seed grow without soil?" Watch out Hollywood, some talented actors and actresses are on their way!
Enjoy!

Greetings,
During the past couple of weeks we have been learning about the steps involved in writing a letter. Our final task was to write a letter to someone "special" for an upcoming celebration:} I am sure you will be equally impressed with the quality of these letters.
In Science, we have been looking at the needs and characteristics of living things so we decided that a living thing would make for an appropriate Mother's Day gift. I am hopeful that our "living things" survived the bus ride home.
Mrs. Woodruff taught the students a song for Mother's Day that we'd like to share with you.
Thanks again for the recipes and all of the wonderful samples. Our April "Show-n-Share" was definitely a yummy highlight of our day!
Happy Mother's Day!
