100 Days At School

Greetings,

During our Marvelous Math Minutes on the SMART Board we keep track of how many days we have been at school using a place value chart, coins and a tally chart. This daily recording allows us to practice the concepts of place value and tallying. It has also allowed us to reinforce the names of the coins, and their corresponding coin values and given us many opportunities to count using the 100 chart. We also play a fun game called Guess My Number. The student in charge picks a number on the 100 chart and classmates need to guess their number based on clues given. For example, if the student in charge chooses 67 and a classmate guesses 32 they would be told that the secret number is greater than 32. The next student would guess 84 and would be told that the secret number is less than 84. Students are given 10 tries to guess the number. You can play this game at home using an interactive 100 chart like Splat Square.

Splat Square

These are some snapshots of our MMM activities. We are getting very excited as we can now see the 100th day of school quickly approaching.

Our 100 day projects have been trickling in this week. We are all getting very excited to see the structures made by the primary classes. Students are also invited to dress like they are 100 years old.
Thanks again for your continued support of our numeracy program.
