Map & Globe Unit

My apologies for not blogging as of late. We have been so busy, we have forgotten.
But........ we're back!
During the past couple of weeks we have been working on a unit called Map & Globe Skills. We have learned all about the seven continents, the four oceans, the equator, parts of a map like the key and legend, the differences between maps and globes, direction and even how to read the coordinates of a map.

An Amazing Green Wonderland

Greetings, The students in 2F have been working really hard on explanatory writing during the past six weeks. I am sure you are equally impressed with all of the published pieces that have been sent home for your reading pleasure. Using all of the information that we have learned about rain forests students worked as a group and completed a brilliant explanation. We later used this writing as our mentor text for our final independent piece of explanatory writing. Finally, we added some illustrations and put it altogether in a book for our blog. Enjoy! Pink Shirt Day

Pink Shirt Day
Pink Shirt Day is to stop people from bullying because it isn't nice to bully other people. People will not want to be your friend and soon you will have no friends. Pinks Shirt Day started by a boy who had his first day in grade nine and he wore a pink shirt to school. Some bullies made fun of him and some older grade twelve boys stood up to the bullies. The next day they wore pink shirts and then others joined in and wore pink shirts to school too. That is how Pink Shirt Day started.

On April 14th GNPS students were encouraged to wear a pink shirt to school to send the powerful message that bullying is not acceptable. Way to go Mac, for having the courage to wear a pink shirt on this day!
